A technical services organization is looking for a Senior Controls Engineer to contribute to a client project involving the design and implementation of PLC-based monitoring and control solutions. The role includes supporting factory and on-site testing, delivering customer training, and working closely with project leadership to ensure successful automation system deployment.
Key Responsibilities
- Review project requirements by participating in team discussions and examining technical documents
- Keep project leaders updated on task status, key deliverables, and budget-related items
- Produce accurate project records, including timesheets, reports, and travel documentation
- Adhere to established engineering guidelines and industry best practices
- Develop System Control Narratives to guide the architecture of PLC programs
- Build PLC applications based on specifications and functional descriptions
- Install and validate both internally developed software and any necessary third-party components
- Integrate automation systems with external equipment using industrial communication protocols
- Take part in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT)
- Demonstrate full system capabilities to stakeholders, including SCADA interfaces and system controls
- Provide operational training to end users such as operators, supervisors, and administrative personnel
- Prepare and submit final project documentation packages
- Offer technical assistance to end users and support field staff with PLC troubleshooting
Qualifications
At least 8 years of hands-on PLC programming experience
Knowledge of PLC hardware/software platforms (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Schneider, Siemens, Emerson)
Experience developing HMI and SCADA systems
