My client is a systems integration firm providing professional services, control
systems, and automation solutions to customers across multiple industries. They
are expanding and diversifying their business model and are seeking an
experienced Senior Business Development Manager who can drive growth in the
mission critical (data center) sector.
This is an opportunity to join a strong, established technical team while playing a key
role in shaping and executing their strategy in a fast-growing market.
Position Overview
The Senior Business Development Manager will pursue, cultivate, and manage
relationships with end users, EPC firms, general contractors, OEM packagers, and large
electrical contractors operating in the mission critical data center space. This role will
also shape strategic direction by assessing current capabilities and creating a
structured go-to-market plan for data center growth.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain a strategic business development plan focused on
establishing the company within the mission critical/data center market
• Proactively pursue new business and build strong relationships with EPCs,
OEMs, OEM packagers, general contractors, electrical contractors, and end
users
• Act as the primary customer interface, clearly communicating the company’s
services, capabilities, and solutions
• Independently schedule and conduct multiple customer meetings each week
• Collaborate with internal project teams and proposal engineering to develop
accurate estimates and proposals
• Prepare and deliver presentations to clients and industry audiences
• Participate in conferences, trade shows, and industry events to expand presence
and visibility
• Work closely with customers to provide tailored technical and commercial
solutions
• Stay informed about industry trends, customer requirements, and competitive
activity
• Build long-term relationships with senior leadership and key decision-makers
within target accounts
Qualifications & Requirements
• BS in Engineering preferred but not required
• 8+ years of proven business development or sales experience within industrial
automation or electrical integration, specifically supporting mission critical/data
center markets
• Established relationships with EPCs, GCs, large electrical contractors, OEM
packagers, and end users in the data center industry
• Demonstrated success selling automation and integrated electrical solutions
into mission critical environments
• Familiarity with major control system platforms, including:
o Ignition SCADA & HMI (Inductive Automation)
o Rockwell Automation (PlantPAx, FactoryTalk SE, Logix hardware)
o Wonderware / AVEVA (System Platform, InTouch, Historian)
o Emerson DeltaV
• Strong track record of winning new business and expanding existing accounts
• Background working for a control system integrator or specialized contracting
firm
• Hunter mentality with strong business development capability
• Ability to participate in industry events and deliver high-quality presentations
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and client-facing skills
• Ability to work remotely and operate independently
